We the people have had it.

I stood in my fellow union comrades' break area at the GM Proving Ground in 1980, (whatever) the day Reagan fired the PATCO air traffic controllers, and declared that we are now seeing an unabashed attack on unions in this country, and this was only the tip of the iceberg, that more destruction of the middle class was coming, and we should take notice now. Even though I was 100% correct at the time, I would be much happier if I had been wrong.

I think there’s one point missing. Progressives and DSA progressives are two different groups. DSA devotees tend to be anti- semites and one of their leaders is a self professed Lenin-Marxist follower. They want to defund the police. They are also against capitalism. Capitalism works just fine when there is even wealth distribution. Having grown up in a middle class home in the 50’s looks nothing like what we see today. Definitely changes to our system of government must happennand now. We’re not going to see that with communism.

Unfortunately, this is delusional thinking. Roosevelt and Johnson had massive margins in the house and Senate. We will see how things go in the general election. The economy is not great by any stretch, but it is not 1932 level.

It will be after Trump gets done with it.

I just do not see white Republicans in the South switching to vote for Democrats of any persuasion let alone progressives. The racism is too important to them. When Johnson did the right thing and drove through the Civil Rights Act, the Democratic party was finished in the South.
