I am old enough to remember when he sided with Putin over our own Intelligence in front of the world and he was not only not held accountable, he wormed his way back for a second term.

There are people who lived through the Cold War, who hated the Soviets and later Russians, but when MAGA came along and fed their daddy complex they said, sure ok, if djt says we can trust Putin over Zelenskyy, then who's to say he's wrong? We keep talking about the upside down, but this was orchestrated, it was the long game, and now they (billionaires, Putin, Netanyahu, Saudis, Qataris and many “stongmen”) who prior to this ijit's return were contained, and somewhat throttled. They are our problem now, not terrorism, them. They have the ijit‘s ear and strings waiting to be pulled. imho

Viva Ukraine! Long live all those even as the bullies try to exterminate.

We aren’t going to watch without a fight.

Slava Ukraini! Zelenskyy's appeal at Davos this week was a clever one, bet on Ukraine, they have the technology and skill to hold off the seafaring might of Russia and others, which has been shown time and time again. They will be victorious if other nations in the region step up to overthrow Putin and authoritarianism.

Russia seems to be as brutal now, as it was under communism.

His need of retaliation and inability to care for others was exactly what the billionaires wanted. The Heritage Foundation had 4 yrs to devise our destruction. We must dismantle all they are doing and take our country back and change our government to one that works for us and cares for every single American.

the u.s. farmers are showing they ARE not misguided but complicit with the evil parasite in the gov't to destroy and self destruct.

#3 if we don't work we file joint return w/husband this is another fed document listing SS# & married name

#4 We have picture ID drivers license or state ID - picture shown w/name

#5. If the feds already recognize our married name and its association with our SS # Just "What are they trying to pull off..."Taking away our right to vote?"

They purging voter registrations, in Florida they are supposedly deleting names of "convicted felons"

Donny is a convicted felon!!!

I DON'T UNDERSTAND DONNY'S REASONING ALTHOUGH, IT IS USUALLY FLAWED AND MUDDLED

Carney wiped the floor with Trump. Carneys speach was epic. Compared to Carney, Trump sounded like Forrest Gump/Happy Jack.

Richard S's avatar

Carney's speech received a standing ovation.

Trump's torrent of ignorance, lies and insults was greeted with stunned silence.

Brian's avatar

Rightfully so, Trump is toxic… a terrible person and absolutely not a reflection of true Americans or our values.

PLEASE WORLD, forgive the USA of this sinful man's behavior.

“We the People “ will get through this… Trump's actions shall be reversed…elections are coming!

Erick Oshel's avatar

And silence is the only appropriate response.

dfieldman's avatar

If Davos were a stage, Mark Carney would glide across it like a Swiss banker conducting a sermon on prudence — his sentences trimmed, precise, so sterile they might pass IMF inspection. Donald Trump, meanwhile, would barge in from the wings, gold cufflinks flashing, shouting that the orchestra sounds “rigged.”

Carney’s speech is tonic water: all effervescence, no intoxication; Trump’s, bathtub gin — crude, loud, and somehow more memorable.

Carney flatters the pageantry of reason, quoting carbon indices and sustainable growth; Trump flatters resentment, quoting himself.

Yet both perform the same ritual: the worship of confidence. One sells it as stability, the other as swagger.

In Davos’s cold fog, Carney represents the conscience of money — polished, apologetic — while Trump remains its id, roaring that he is the money.

Both tell the truth, though neither intends to.

Richard S's avatar

Mark Carney has a degree in economics from Harvard and two post-graduate degrees in economics (including a doctorate) from Oxford.

He has been the Governor of the Bank of Canada (2008-2013), the first non-Brit to be Governor of the Bank of England (2013-2020); co-chair of the World Bank's private sector investment lab; the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance...

As Dumb Donnie, the profligate nepo-baby, has discovered, he's no match for Carney.

Neither is Bessent, nor Ludnick, nor any of the quarterwits and hapless know-nothings with which Dumb Donnie has surrounded himself.

To state that Carney did not intend to "tell the truth" or that Dumb Donnie told the truth is a totally unfounded, incredibly stupid opinion.

Pamela Clymore's avatar

So ironic.. A brilliant economist talking sense, while in the back room Donny is giving everybody his life lessons in economics, soon to be published in paperback

selling for only $59.95. The title of the

First it's Venezuela, now he is bringing Cuba to is knees (can you imagine the "rush" he's getting)

Then comes bombing Iran! Absolutely NO strategy and no plan . know I have never seen someone so proud and happy talking about "dead" people. He is so totally out of step w/ the world.

And he has just destroyed our relationship with Europe over "wanting" Greenland. I don't know WHO he thinks he is but he has pretty much wrecked our relation with our ,,long-standing allies.

THEN he turns around and lifts sanctions on Russian oil to enrich Russia and Putin with billions$$. This after Putin declared that they support their regional neighbor Iran!!!. Donny is nuts and his actions on quite a few of these examples paints him as a traitor. Giving succor to the enemy during times of War.

What exactly is Congress doing? "THEY" are his boss and they supposed to rein him in. Stop him!

Their roll is to relieve him of his duties until his traitorous acts have investigated.

Donny has just went public ASKING UKRAINE FOR HELP WITH IRAN!! MY GOD THE NERVE OF THE MAN. HE PULLED US AID FROM UKRAINE AND THEN THREW THEM UNDER THE BUS TO PUTIN!!

We (Donny) betrayed them and now he asks for help.

In case you forgot, Ukraine offered Donny help with Iran's drones and turned them down, saying "We don't need your help!". HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN.

Sarah5150's avatar

No. Just 26%. That's the voter percentage he won with. Most intelligent and Constitution supporting people did not bother to vote. And that's on all of us.

Talking heads blathered on about the support both Hillary and Kamala had. What their polling numbers were and that they were UNSTOPPABLE.

Except.

People that were planning to vote for either lady decided, with those presumed guarantees, that Trump could not win, why brave the weather, the lines or the time suck that voting can be? And they were wrong.

Hopefully everyone has learned and, if we get another election chance, everyone that can, does turn out!

MastiffSal's avatar

Why do you think the first and worst cuts are always to education and health? The stupid fall for any bullshit if it's repeated enough times and the sick are desperate and don't have the energy to fight back or think straight. As a terminally ill person, with very limited formal education I can attest to that from people I've spoken to. The most important part of the fight back is encouraging a lust for learning, rationality and reasoning skills. We need to teach people there are no simple answers, but if you vary your news sources you will get closer to the truth. Simple answers may seem temporarily comforting but they reap no long term rewards.

Pamela Clymore's avatar

Thank you for such a clear and concise message.

Education IS the base that keeps America strong.

Keep up the good fight for America and for yourself.

May God bless you.

Although I'm fond of the color 'blue', I don't enjoy seeing it on my face while looking in the mirror. And if I held my breath until the Republicans in Congress 'grew a set' and stood up to Trump, I would very soon be that shade of blue!! In a tangentially related matter, someone posted an AI photo of the (completed) new Hard Rock Casino guitar hotel now being built on the Las Vegas Strip. The caption was 'guess what gold tower gets completely blocked from view once the Guitar is completed?' My first reaction was that it would be so nice if we could build a wall that completely blocked the actual Pedophile Dictator in the White House.

Rolls Ross's avatar

This is what Trump wanted all along. Look beyond his antics. He wants out of NATO and all the Ukraine issues - and buddy up to Vlad and his riches. The Greenland approach always has been do some “deal” - handshake or paper - that at least he’ll spin to result in the US owning Greenland but it’s all BS. His actions also shake Europe awake to clearly not depend or now consider US power …. and $$$$. US arms suppliers gotta find another customer. He is focusing on our trisphere. It’s all terrible for US.

Richard S's avatar

Trump's concepts of a plan for Greenland will take same priority as his concepts of a plan for healthcare; the same priority as his promise to produce the documents that would prove his wife, Malaria, was not an illegal immigrant.

Speaking of Malaria, Trump already has a lease on a piece of ice.

They aren’t really thinking people and find it easier to follow Trump and believe him. They really wanted a racist leader who would rid the country of foreigners. They aren’t bothered about him raping children, or being greedy and corrupt. Thinking of all the problems is too complicated for them.

Pamela Clymore's avatar

Thinking is very difficult for Donny, his thought process is very elementary, hazy, basic concepts elude him. And when something really needs to be done, Donny rushes in, no plan, no thought and stirs everything up, complete chaos ensues, then he looses interest or forgets what it us he is doing, and walks away. And if someone questions him, he looks around and takes one of his fat, little fingers, points to somebody else and says, "HE'S RESPONSIBLE, NOT ME!"

OUR FEARLESS LEADER STRIKES AGAIN!

Val Fieth's avatar

True and he is confused and uneducated yet he is still President which is a position he stole, as he didn’t want to go to jail, and is corrupt anyway.

What a pity, the USA dragged down , debased degraded like never before, shamed by having an ignoramus imbecile occupying its highest office, and this lowlife has been getting bolder and bolder. America what's become of you, the stain his presidency will leave on its history will be impossible to erase.

Jeannette Benavides's avatar

First of all, thank-you for Raw Story.

After years of having Trump like a virus destroying everything he can if it does not go along with his malignant narcissism I am not surprised by his actions. But the USA is not owned by Trump, millions of us don't want the USA to be imperialistic. Millions of us don't want a lunatic Dictator. He was elected because he had a base of extremist fanatical religious who saw in Trump a way to establish a Theocracy. Trump had his own agenda, and he used those people as pawns. Trump's agenda has always been to own the USA and the rest of the world as a King or Emperor. But for any action there is a reaction and I am glad that his demented plans have suffered a backlash. To me Democracy is like this beautiful maple tree we have in our backyard. It is more than a hundred years old. It has withstood high winds and disease. Its trunk shows its age. But it is still there and, in the Spring, its foliage is gorgeous. Why? Because its roots are still strong and deep.

The European people are way smarter than the citizens of the United States when it comes to things like fascism. They witnessed fascism up close and personal. Meanwhile the citizens of the United States sit in some kind of protective bubble. Most Americans wouldn’t recognize fascism, if it bit them on their ass. This has made the United States vulnerable to people like t/rump. Our naivety as a nation, will be our downfall.

Jeannette Benavides's avatar

Please don't generalize. There are millions of us who know history and read instead of having a cell phone attached almost 24/7.

Diane J's avatar

I'm American and I agree that most US citizens don't know the real history because if they did they'd be forced to accept we've done some rotten things from the beginning. This doesn't mean we're horrible, it means we need that information so it doesn't happen again and allow creatures like trump to rise up and take control.

You may think millions know their history but they've whitewashed a lot of it even since the 80+ years I've been around when you read about history you've lived through it's easier to spot the lies.

Paul Wight's avatar

There are 2 things you can do with history:

Learn from it, or hide it.

USA has always been good at hiding it, but now Trump has made that the official policy.

tiredofthischaos's avatar

I agree. But I will take it one step further. While the US helped to stop WWII their own country and the people with did not live through it. Your land was not bombed, your family's murdered.

The Europeans today still hold the scars left behind.

My grandfather fought, the family home flattened and 3 killed in the blitz. We got off lightly.

So while reading about and educating yourself is a most, living through it is entirely different. 🇬🇧

Canada's brilliant Prime Minister Mark Carney gave a world leader speech at Davos to only the third standing ovation in Davos' history, whereas Trump spent over an hour reliving grievances and how he has fixed everything that was wrong with the US. I,I,I was his theme and other than his toadies standing to clap, the rest of the room was quiet. Trump seemed to threaten Carney at the end of his speech, by saying "Canada lives because of America, remember that next time Mark", which Carney countered today with a speech in Canada by saying " Canada doesn't live because of America, Canada lives because of us Canadians". Canada has already left our former ally and partner behind, by signing numerous trade and investment deals globally deadening most of the economic pain caused by Trump so far. Do we expect more illogical emotional pain from Trump? Absolutely, but Carney is working hard to deflect that as well. America is becoming increasingly isolated. Not only from it's former ally and best friend, but from most of the G7 countries, which are all tired of Trump's tantrums and illegal tariff extortion. It should also be noted that every time Howard Lutnick walked into a room being his aggressive and obnoxious self, the room walked out (including a dinner he was speaking at)

Prime Minister Mark Carney is an outstanding, conservative leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.
