Aren't elections delegated to the states, not the federal executive?? He should not be sending observers! I have been a poll worker in SC and there are specific rules about observers, including how many are allowed, where they are allowed to sit or stand, and the candidates are the ones who arrange for THEIR observers to be in polling places. I am a presiding judge in a precinct in my state. IF DOJ is going to provide observers, they 'ahead of' elections, it will do them little good. Except for early voting, observers can only appear on election day, and then only after being vetted and stated as a member of either party and sanctioned by that party via a lengthly process. And then, at the polling place, they have nowhere to go or nothing to do but sit and watch, in silence, the entire day. They can say nothing nor do nothing. No questions, no talk, no guns, no knives, no nothing. What a bunch of totally stupid fuckheads are lounging around the DOJ these days. Bimbos is too kind a word. They are junkyard dogs with no teeth.

Any election "Observers" are going to be spread pretty thin apparently. They will have an average deployment of just 20 per state.
