El-Sayed is smart to not identify as a Democratic Socialist. Focussing on economic issues without the baggage of the Democratic Socialist platform gives him a chance to reach working class voters in a swing state.
Republicans would NEVER allow the same thing to happen in their party. They know it would likely cause them to lose elections. And it is why Republicans and their donors fund liberal third party candidates like Ralph Nader and Jill Stein (Green Party). Both 3rd party candidates cost the Dems Presidential elections. Smarten up Dems. Republican voter live by the credo that “the worst Republican is better than the best Democrat (or Independent).” Time for Dem voters to do the same. As they say “Perfect is the enemy of good.” BTW, progressive candidates like El-Sayed in Michigan are neither socialists nor communists. They are progressive Democrats and Capitalists that support the same policies of FDR, Truman, LBJ and even Republicans Teddy Roosevelt and Eisenhower. Even Nixon supported national healthcare. Any moderate Republicans have been purged. They are all MAGA and Trump enablers, now. Time to vote straight Democrat.
They are so worried about socialist/progressives because the people are demanding it. They would convert a whole bunch of magats too, that supported Bernie.
So with Trump we have national socialism. Trump has the federal government owning % of key industries. That’s a lot more socialism than Medicare for all.

I have held my nose and voted for these corporate licking so called"centrist" Dem for 4 decades. The idiots decided that they way to more voters was to become Rebublican lite, instead of offering an.alternative to supply side and trickle down economics, which impoverished the working class and decimated the middle class. Time for them to sit down and shut the fuck up.
Any call for a 3rd party is an attempt to dilute opposition votes.
Why rip the Democrat party in pieces? Are all Republicans MAGA? One party can have members with different ideas.
That said, any Democrat that wants to ax our freedoms, social programs to help disadvantaged people, good education, etc., should go join another party. Democrats do believe in the benefits to our country of having a social security net.
