Donald Trump’s border towns are turning on him as a cost-of-living crisis pushes American citizens to flee to Mexico. South Park used its Emmy win to remind Trump of the one trophy he’s never managed to grab. The GOP’s marquee Senate hopeful in Georgia is drowning in scandal, spelling errors, and Klan photos. And James Comey’s lawyers just made a move that could turn his prosecution back on the president who ordered it. Let’s dive in.
Trump’s Own Border Voters Are Fleeing to Mexico to Escape His Economy
In 2024, Laredo, Texas made history for all the wrong reasons. The heavily Latino border city voted Republican for the first time in more than a century, part of the Hispanic swing that helped hand Trump the White House. Two years later, some of those same voters are packing up and moving across the Rio Grande just to afford groceries.
The Telegraph traveled to Laredo and found American citizens commuting into the United States for work while living in Mexico, where rent and food cost a fraction of what they do stateside. On average, Mexico’s cost of living runs about 45 percent below America’s. One 24-year-old shop assistant, born and raised in Laredo, told the paper she’d been forced to move back to Mexico to be with her husband and toddler because the bills on the American side had simply become too much.
The culprits residents named again and again: petrol prices and Trump’s war in Iran. With the Strait of Hormuz blocked for over six months, crude oil has repeatedly blown past $100 a barrel. Taxi drivers in Laredo now switch their engines off between fares just to save fuel.
Even the folks who voted for him are saying it out loud.
“I voted for Trump. But who wants a war?” one 57-year-old taxi driver told the paper, adding he’ll probably vote Democrat in November. A bar owner across from a border crossing said business is down 35 percent and put it plainly: he regrets his vote, because every day there’s something new.
South Park Wins an Emmy and Rubs Trump’s Face in It
South Park took home its fifth Emmy on Sunday night, winning Outstanding Animated Program for the first time since 2013, and immediately used the moment to torment Trump.
The show won for “Sermon on the Mount,” the debut of a season built almost entirely around a caricature of the president, including scenes of Trump in bed with Satan.
To celebrate, the show’s official accounts posted a graphic of Trump, pants down, clutching the very Emmy he’s spent years complaining he was robbed of.
The detail that makes this perfect: the 80-year-old former reality star has never won an Emmy, and he can’t let it go. “I got screwed out of an Emmy!” he once declared. He’s called the awards “all politics” and insisted The Apprentice should have won “many times over.” Trey Parker and Matt Stone know exactly which button they’re pushing, and they pushed it in front of the entire industry.

The GOP’s Georgia Senate Campaign Is a Slow-Motion Car Crash
If Republicans had a plan to flip a Senate seat in Georgia, Congressman Mike Collins is doing his level best to ruin it. Collins launched his campaign against Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff with a video that misspelled his own state as “Georiga,” and things have gone downhill from there.
Since that opening blunder, Collins has picked up a House ethics probe and revelations that his son-in-law posted white nationalist and antisemitic content online. There’s also renewed scrutiny of a former intern who posed in a Ku Klux Klan outfit. The intern’s defense, offered to the Wall Street Journal, was that critics were “missing the whole artistic visionary aspect of it all.”
I’ll let that speak for itself.
Ossoff, meanwhile, has raised roughly $98 million; Collins has brought in a scant $7.4 million. The latest polling has Ossoff up seven points, and strategists now see a race rated solidly blue. GOP leaders are reportedly terrified that Collins loses so badly he drags down every other Republican on the Georgia ballot.
This is the same Mike Collins who once filmed a commercial falsely claiming Trump won Georgia in 2020, then shot a trash can labeled “voting machine” with a rifle.
Trump, who waited until two days before the runoff to endorse him, called him “a WARRIOR and WINNER!” The warrior currently can’t crack single digits.
Comey’s Lawyers Just Turned the Tables on Trump
The Trump administration’s prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey “could get interesting fast,” according to former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance, and this time the danger points back at the president.
Comey was indicted in April on two felony counts over an Instagram post: a photo of seashells arranged to read “86 47,” which Trump allies chose to interpret as a threat. Comey’s legal team is now arguing the whole prosecution is both selective and vindictive, driven entirely by Trump’s personal animus, and that it should be tossed.
Comey’s lawyers argue that even if the judge doesn’t dismiss outright, they’re entitled to discovery, the fact-finding phase where the other side has to hand over evidence. And discovery in a case built on Trump’s “personal animus” could surface exactly the kind of material the administration would rather keep buried.
As Vance put it, there’s a “reasonable likelihood of vindictiveness” worth a hearing. In plain terms: the prosecution meant to punish an enemy could end up exposing the man who ordered it.
