Republicans Clamoring for Trump's Impeachment
Pope Leo XIV calls Trump's Iran threats "unacceptable," prediction market bettors put money on 25th Amendment, retired general wants Nuremberg Trials for Trump
Good evening, and welcome to Raw America. I’m John Byrne, in for British Chris.
There’s a lot happening that you won’t hear about in the billionaire-controlled press: The pope is breaking with centuries of diplomatic protocol to condemn Trump, members of the president’s own base are demanding his impeachment, bettors are putting money on Trump being removed from office by his own Cabinet, and a retired general is invoking Nazi war crime tribunals to describe what may be in Trump’s future. Let’s dive in.
But first: If you rely on independent news outlets free from billionaire ownership to stay informed, consider updating your free Raw America subscription to a paying one. Raw America our people-powered response to right-wing billionaires buying news outlets and censoring critical reporting. MAGA oligarchs are hoping their money will protect themselves from accountability and silence the reporting they don’t like. Independent journalism doesn’t rely on them, but on readers like you. Pope Calls Trump’s Iran Threats ‘Truly Unacceptable’
Pope Leo XIV didn’t mince words on Tuesday. After Trump posted on Truth Social that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again” if Iran doesn’t open the Strait of Hormuz, the American-born pope called it “truly unacceptable.”
Leo urged Americans and people of good will everywhere to contact their representatives and demand they reject war. He described attacks on civilian infrastructure as violations of international law, and as a sign of “hatred.”
The Vatican has a long tradition of diplomatic neutrality. Popes don’t typically call out sitting heads of state by name. But Leo is breaking that tradition with increasing urgency.
He tied the Iran conflict to a broader catastrophe in the making: a worldwide economic crisis, an energy crisis, and a Middle East descending into deeper instability. His message to political leaders was direct: come back to the table, talk, look for peaceful solutions, and remember the innocent children, the elderly, the sick who are already becoming victims.
This is a pope who visited Lebanon last year. He’s not speaking abstractly.
Conservatives Call on Republicans to Impeach Trump
The people calling for Trump’s removal on Tuesday weren’t progressives or Democrats. They were Marjorie Taylor Greene, Alex Jones, Candace Owens, and Anthony Scaramucci. Read that list again.
Greene, a reliably enthusiastic Trump loyalist until very recently, posted “25TH AMENDMENT!!!” in capital letters. She called Trump’s threat “evil and madness” and said the country “cannot kill an entire civilization.”
Jones called it a “WAR CRIME ALERT!!” on X. He said Trump “literally sounds like an unhinged super villain from a Marvel comic movie.” Candace Owens wrote that “the 25th Amendment needs to be invoked” and called Trump a “genocidal lunatic.”
Scaramucci went directly after Senate Majority Leader John Thune, tagging him and asking whether he’d seek the removal of “this crazy person.” He later posted that Trump appeared to be calling for a nuclear strike.
Bill Kristol, a conservative for four decades, simply wrote “Impeach Trump.”
This isn’t the resistance or the mainstream media. These are people who, in many cases, spent years defending or amplifying Trump. When Alex Jones and Marjorie Taylor Greene are on the same side of an issue, something genuinely extraordinary is happening.
Prediction Markets Trend Toward 25th Amendment for Trump
Prediction markets don’t determine outcomes, but they do reflect real-time shifts in public expectations. And the numbers are moving.
On Kalshi, one of the largest regulated prediction platforms, the contract asking “Will the 25th Amendment be used during Trump’s presidency?” saw its “Yes” share rise from 28.6 percent to 35.1 percent within the past month. When Trump took office in January 2025, that number sat at 15 percent.
That’s more than doubled in just a few months.
Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut called Trump’s Easter Sunday Truth Social post, where the president threatened to bomb Iranian power plants and bridges while adding “Praise be to Allah,” “completely, utterly unhinged.” Murphy publicly urged the Cabinet to consider invoking the 25th Amendment.
The 25th Amendment has never actually been used to remove a sitting president. It’s been used for temporary power transfers during medical procedures, nothing more. Any real invocation would require the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to act, then potentially face a congressional fight. The political and legal hurdles are enormous.
But the fact that the markets are pricing a 35 percent chance of it happening tells you something about the climate right now.
Retired General Wants Nuremberg Trials for Trump
Retired Brigadier General Steve Anderson went on CNN Tuesday and said something that would’ve been unthinkable to say about an American president just a few years ago.
He said he’s old enough to remember the Nuremberg trials. He said he’d hate to see, five or ten years from now, American soldiers and leaders being held accountable for following illegal orders directed by the president of the United States.
Anderson said Trump wasn’t competent and predicted he’d find a way to walk back the 8 p.m. deadline, because bombing every single civilian target in Iran would constitute “a great war crime.” He said Trump simply couldn’t follow through on what he was threatening without crossing that line.
Multiple legal experts and figures from across the political spectrum have said the same thing in recent weeks: many of Trump’s stated threats, if carried out, would be war crimes under international law.
Anderson’s CNN appearance also came with a reminder about the Justice Department’s earlier attempt to investigate Democratic senators with military backgrounds who put out a video urging troops to refuse unlawful orders. A grand jury refused to indict them. Senator Mark Kelly called it an “outrageous abuse of power.”
The broader message from the military and legal communities is becoming harder to ignore: following certain orders right now could expose American service members to legal liability that doesn’t disappear when administrations change.

Dan Caine — the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff — insisted that the U.S. military remains the “most professional force in the world” and that Washington would “always strike lawful targets” in acts of warfare. Caine’s statements came in response to a reporter asking if President Donald Trump’s promised attacks civilian infrastructure in Iran could be carried out without “seriously jeopardizing or seriously harming civilians.”
Trump Humiliates Bondi One Last Time After Her Firing. After Attorney General Pam Bondi was fired last week, she indicated that she would be transitioning out of her role in the next month to help Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche transition into the role. However, during a recent livestreamed press conference, Blanche was described as “Acting AG Todd Blanche,” suggesting that Bondi may already be out the door at the Department of Justice. When a reporter pressed Blanche on Bondi’s last day, he demurred, only saying “I’m the acting attorney general.”
Republicans Accuse Mike Johnson of ‘Bait-and-Switch’ on DHS Funding. Multiple House Republicans are grumbling about House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) of a “bait-and-switch” during his recent one-eighty to support a Department of Homeland Security funding package that didn’t include money for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). One unnamed Republican lawmaker told Politico that Johnson calling the bill a “joke” before flipping and supporting it was “pretty pathetic.” The DHS has been without funding for 52 days as of Tuesday.

Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) sent unwanted sexually explicit text messages to his 2020 campaign’s political director are now prompting new calls for his expulsion from Congress. The San Antonio Express-News reported over the weekend that Gonzales asked the staffer dozens of times for nude photos and expressed a desire to have sex with her. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) said she would vote in favor of a motion to Gonzales, who is not running for reelection.

Could it be Republicans are actually beginning to see how dangerous the madman and his cabinet have become; I certainly hope so because he is going to bring his war to our country- and we no longer have allies to help thanks to him.
Trump must go, why is America putting up with this insanity?
