Career prosecutors inside the U.S. Attorney’s office for the District of Columbia are fearing for their careers after U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro filed a motion Monday to dismiss the felony case against Olympic canoeist David Hearn, who was accused of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

“This goes beyond just one case,” a current DOJ prosecutor told Raw America on background. “Everybody is watching their backs. We all know we could be a scapegoat for the incompetence at the top.”

Prosecutors inside the office say no one’s job is safe as President Donald Trump continues to demand “we prosecute cases without the facts to back them up,” and fear that “several of us could end up being disbarred.”
