The Epstein Files Dump: A Masterclass in Distraction While Trump’s DOJ Arrests Journalists

Let’s talk about what happened Friday. The Trump administration released what they’re calling the “Epstein files,” and if you think this was about transparency, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

The Trump regime is now arresting independent journalists who dare to cover protests and challenge their narrative. But we’re not backing down. We won’t be silenced. If you believe in protecting press freedom and holding power accountable, subscribe to Raw American to support truly independent journalism that refuses to be intimidated.

The Document Dump Strategy

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stood before the cameras and announced the release of over 3 million pages of documents, thousands of videos, and hundreds of thousands of images. He made it sound like some grand gesture of openness, a commitment to truth and justice.

But here’s what they’re really doing: burying the story under so much material that nobody can make sense of it, while simultaneously making sure the headlines focus on anyone except the people currently running our government.

A Journalist Behind Bars

Look at the timing. On the same day they dump these files, Don Lemon gets arrested by federal agents while covering the Grammy Awards. A journalist with three decades of experience now faces federal charges. His crime? Attending a protest at a Minnesota church earlier this month. They charged him with violating civil rights laws for allegedly interfering with religious freedom. Let that sink in. A journalist covering a protest is now facing federal charges, while the White House celebrates his arrest on social media with a cute little pun: “When life gives you Lemons.”

This is the playbook, folks. Distract, deflect, and destroy anyone who dares to challenge the narrative.

The Breadcrumbs They Want You to Follow

Sure, the Epstein files contain some interesting revelations. Elon Musk asking about “the wildest party” on Epstein’s island. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick planning a family lunch there despite claiming he found Epstein “disgusting” years earlier. Even Melania Trump exchanging warm emails with Ghislaine Maxwell, calling her “G” and signing off with “Love, Melania.”

But notice what’s happening here. The administration gets to look like they’re being transparent while the media chases these breadcrumbs.

What They Don’t Want You to See

Meanwhile, in Minneapolis, federal immigration officers are killing protesters in the streets. Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse at a veterans hospital, was shot dead while protesting aggressive ICE raids. He’s the second person killed by federal agents in Minnesota this month, following Renee Good on January 7th.

And what’s the Department of Justice doing about those killings? Well, they announced an investigation into Pretti’s death on Friday. The same day they arrested Lemon, the same day they dumped the Epstein files. But there’s no investigation into Good’s death. Just one investigation, announced alongside all these other stories, ensuring it gets lost in the noise.

Information Warfare in Real Time

This is information warfare, and it’s remarkably effective. They overwhelm us with data we can’t possibly process, they create spectacles that dominate the news cycle, and they weaponize the justice system against journalists who might otherwise be investigating the real crimes happening right now.

Because let’s be clear about what’s happening in Minnesota: federal agents are deploying military tactics against American citizens, killing protesters, and the administration is celebrating the arrest of a journalist who covered those protests. That’s not law enforcement. That’s authoritarian suppression of dissent and press freedom.

History vs. Current Events

The Epstein files matter. The connections between powerful people and a convicted sex trafficker matter. But they matter as historical record, not as current events. What’s happening right now matters more. Journalists being arrested, protesters being killed, civil liberties being trampled. That’s the emergency.

They’re counting on us to be distracted. They’re betting we’ll spend our energy parsing through millions of pages of documents while they dismantle the foundations of our democracy in plain sight. They want us looking backward at Epstein’s crimes while they commit new ones.

The Real Question

Don’t fall for it. Read the files if you want, but don’t lose sight of what’s happening today. A free press is under attack. Constitutional rights are being violated. People are dying in American streets at the hands of federal agents.

The question isn’t what Elon Musk knew about Epstein’s parties in 2012. The question is what we’re going to do about journalists being arrested and protesters being killed in 2026.
