Good evening, and welcome to Raw America. I’m British Chris.
Today’s news is important, but you’re not going to hear much about these stories in billionaire-owned media outlets. One of Trump’s own Supreme Court justices tore apart the president’s birthright citizenship argument. Trump’s own voters are lighting into the president after gas prices blow past four dollars a gallon. Your tax dollars are funding Kimberly Guilfoyle’s basketball court and personal photographer in Athens. And a mystery Polymarket gambler who seems to have inside knowledge is betting big on a ground invasion. Buckle up.
Raw America is Raw Story and Really American’s people-powered response to the far-right billionaire conquest of mainstream media. We exist solely because readers and viewers like you choose to support independent journalism. When billionaires are buying up newspapers and television networks and turning them into propaganda mills, the only way to fight back is to fund journalism that only answers to you. Amy Coney Barrett Rips Trump’s Birthright Citizenship Argument to Shreds
Let’s start at the Supreme Court, where something genuinely remarkable just happened.
Donald Trump became the first sitting president in American history to attend oral arguments at the Supreme Court for a case involving his birthright citizenship executive order. He sat about fifteen feet from the bench, next to Attorney General Pam Bondi. If upheld, his order would throw the citizenship status of an estimated 200,000 babies born to immigrant parents each year into serious legal doubt.
And it wasn’t the liberal justices who did the most damage to the government’s argument. But Amy Coney Barrett, a justice Trump himself appointed.
Barrett hammered Trump solicitor general John Sauer with questions like, what happens when you don’t know who the parents are? What if you can’t establish where they lived, or whether they intended to stay? When Sauer tried to pivot. Barrett cut him off, asking, “but what about the Constitution?”
Sauer argued Social Security numbers are already tied to birth certificates and most cases could be handled that way. Jackson wasn’t buying it. After a baby’s denied citizenship, she noted, then the family gets to fight it out after the fact.
The court’s expected to rule by late June or early July. Watch this space.
Trump’s Own Voters Are Furious About Gas Prices
The Iran war is now into its second month, and the price at the pump is making itself very felt in the lives of ordinary Americans.
The national average for gas crossed four dollars a gallon for the first time since 2022. That’s up more than a dollar from just a month ago. And if you thought Trump’s critics were going to be the only ones upset about it, think again.
MS NOW journalist Alex Tabet went out and found a Trump supporter named Joseph Moncrief, an expecting parent who pays a steep $2,600 a month in rent. He told Tabet that Trump’s economy was “all effed up.”
When asked what he’d tell Trump about the gas prices, he bluntly said Americans “need help,” adding: “we’re citizens and we have to pay these prices and it’s not easy.”
Moncrief then took Trump to ask over the Iran war, saying he doesn’t think US troops should “have anything to do with anything that ain’t inside of our country.”
Remember the little “I Did That” Biden-era stickers pointing at gas prices? They’re apparently already showing up at pumps again, this time with Trump’s face on them. That probably tells you everything you need to know about the public mood right now.
Don Jr.’s Ex-Fiancee Living Extravagantly on Taxpayers’ Dime in Greece
Now, this one’s going to make your blood boil if you care about government spending. Kimberly Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr.’s former fiancée, is serving as Trump’s ambassador to Greece. She’s been throwing herself into Athens’ social scene with considerable enthusiasm. Receptions, VIP parties, yacht trips, courtside seats at basketball games.
And now, according to the Daily Mail, American taxpayers are being asked to foot the bill for that lifestyle.
A $58,000 basketball court is being built at the official U.S. ambassador’s residence. It’s a half-sized court, to go alongside the pool and the manicured gardens. The timing is worth noting. Guilfoyle attended a basketball game in December as a guest of the Angelopoulos brothers, who own Olympiacos and gave her a custom jersey. She signed off on the court plan shortly after.
A prospective contract also shows the embassy is also seeking to hire a personal photographer on an as-needed basis for up to 20 hours a month, including after-hours and weekends, at 25,000 euros a year.
This is all happening while the administration lectures the rest of the government about trimming the fat. Guilfoyle, for her part, is reportedly hoping Trump will stop in Athens in July around the NATO summit in Turkey.
Polymarket Gambler Who Predicted Iran Strikes Bets Big on Ground Invasion
And now for the story that frankly deserves its own documentary.
The Polymarket user who profited handsomely from a $500,000 bet that the U.S. would attack Iran hours before Trump announced his February 28 strikes just made an even larger wager of $800,000 — this time, betting on a ground invasion of Iran.
Keep in mind, this is all happening just hours before Trump delivers a televised address to the nation about the Iran war. If he were to announce that a ground invasion of Iran would begin soon, this would be the time to do it.
A ground invasion may in fact be imminent, as Trump has deployed the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, along with special forces personnel including U.S. Army Rangers and Navy SEALs. The number of troops in the Middle East now numbers approximately 50,000, which is 10,000 more troops than are normally present in the Middle East.
No one knows who the mystery Polymarket user is, but given how Trump and his family have made a habit of enriching themselves with government resources, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if we found out that this user was someone in the president’s inner circle, making millions by trading off of inside knowledge.
Someone always seems to know. And someone always seems to get rich.

STORIES YOU MAY HAVE MISSED:
Data Centers Causing Massive Temperature Spikes. Data centers — which typically house thousands of servers in large buildings sometimes several stories high — are now creating “heat islands,” in which temperatures within several miles climb as high as 16 degrees Fahrenheit. Researchers found that temperature increases from data centers even in remote areas could be felt as much as 6.2 miles away.
U.S. Government Requests for Social Media Users’ Data Continue to Rise. There has been a 770 percent increase in the federal government requesting tech companies hand over data for specific social media accounts over the past decade. Tech companies accommodated requests for 3.5 million different accounts, according to digital privacy company Proton. That number climbs to 6.7 million accounts when factoring in Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act requests.
Mike Johnson Caves to Democrats’ Demands on DHS Funding. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) did an abrupt about-face by agreeing to a Department of Homeland Security funding package that excludes funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This came just days after he called the legislation a “joke.” Senate Democrats have been calling for ICE and CBP to undergo multiple reforms amid the current shutdown, including requiring agents to show their faces and obtain warrants from judges before kicking down residents’ doors.
Fired FBI Agents Sue Trump Administration. Multiple FBI agents who were fired since President Donald Trump’s second term began last year are now suing the administration, claiming their firings were a form of political retaliation. Plaintiffs include more than 50 experienced investigators and longtime senior officials at the bureau, who say they were singled out due to their work on Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Other agents say they were terminated for their work on former Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents.
Jon Stewart Skewers Regretful Trump Voters. During the latest episode of his podcast “The Weekly Show,” comedian Jon Stewart called out Trump supporters who say they feel betrayed after Trump launched his war in Iran. Stewart argued that Trump voters who felt lied to after the president launched his latest war ignored that Trump has been lying “from the f— get-go.” Stewart’s monologue comes as numerous MAGA figures like former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones have attempted to distance themselves from the president.
