The diagnosis is premature. Trump holds the executive branch, which holds law enforcement and the military. The judicial branch is still very much Trump-leaning, most notably "absolute presidential immunity" fabricating John Roberts and the rest of the MAGA activists on the bench. SCOTUS is effectively the MAGA Revolutionary High Council and a court of ideology, not a court of law.
Holding the legislative is a start, but it's not the end of the struggle.
The Mississippi and other deep Southern wins are more significant than this analysis describes. The old Democratic Party was nothing like today's Democratic Party. It's core was composed of NeoConfederates reflecting the culture that had been forcibly reintegrated into the nation after the Civil War. Its values were mostly antithetical to today's Democrats, or to good Americans in general.
This anti-American culture was integrated into the Republican Party with its "Southern Strategy" where it quickly came to dominate it. They had long run one party states with a democratic veneer and were good at it.
Urbanization, the Black franchise perhaps invigorated by renewed attacks on their voting, and as Mississippi demonstrated, the slow erosion of White NeoConfederate racism, has finally dumped this relic of slavery and its depraved values on the ash heap of failed cultures. It has been a drag on this country since the end of Reconstruction, and is now deservedly dead politically.
that'll all come crashing as soon as Stephen Miller opens his mouth. he stands to do a whole lotta damage in this title. we're lucky we got a breath of fresh air with this election. we're going to need it to try and do damage control with miller's cancerous outlook and opinion.

Yes, and Jan 3 2027 is looming with another organized march at our Capitol against democracy and our new Congress.
